Gene Zingaro has been serving his clients, community and country for over 30 years.
After graduating from Fairfield University, he attended Quinnipiac School of Law where he earned the school’s community service award. He immediately entered active duty in the US Marine Corps, where he served as a JAG officer, representing young marines.
He began practicing in Bridgeport, CT in 1997, working for a practice that specialized in civil and family law. There, Gene tried over 50 jury matters, to verdict. He also had the incredible good fortune of learning from one of the most experienced family law practitioners in the state.
On January 2, 2001 he and fellow Fairfield University alum, Don Cretella, launched Zingaro & Cretella, LLC. Gene primarily practices in the areas of family and criminal law. He has handled countless divorces and child custody matters along with numerous cases against DCF.
On the criminal side he has handled everything from serious felonies to routine misdemeanors. He has handled multiple DUI death and vehicular manslaughter cases. His civil background and knowledge of civil ramifications has aided his criminal clients who might also be facing a lawsuit. He has tried, to verdict, with a great deal of success, cases in which the defendant was charged with murder, sex assault and felony assault, among others. If the case needs to be tried, as some do, he will try it.
In 25 years practicing in Connecticut state courts, Gene has established professional relationships with many attorneys, prosecutors, judges, probation officers and other court personnel. He is well known throughout the state.
After having his office in Bridgeport for a quarter century, Gene moved his office in 2022 to Newtown, CT, his home of 18 years. There, he hopes to serve his community as their lawyer, and trusted advisor.
On the personal side, Gene is married and has 3 children, all of which graduated from Newtown High School. Over 10 years ago Gene began a grass roots program to train local youths in their sports endeavors, conducting intense speed and agility workouts. In Newtown, he is probably known more for that, than anything else.
